Meet Braden Matson

DIRECTOR
Braden Matson LLB/MA approaches law with an interest in people, common sense and a friendly and positive approach to work and life. He provides pragmatic, down-to-earth advice, to help reach quick resolutions for clients. Braden is available for appointments at your home, or place and time that suits you. Outside the office, family life keeps him busy and he likes to stay involved in the community. Braden has been a part of the Pohutukawa Coast community for the past eight years, having resided in Beachlands and now in Maraetai. He coaches touch rugby and is part of the local BNI (Business Networking) Group. He has three children who are involved in the local school and sports clubs.

Kandic is a fellow member of the New Zealand Institute of Legal Executives and has been a part of the team at SMLaw for over 10 years as a legal executive. After moving from Hong Kong to New Zealand with her family in 1994, Kandic joined Sutcliffe Matson Law’s estate team. She is a registered legal executive and can speak three languages, English, Mandarin and Cantonese which has been an invaluable skill to our team and our clients. She understands that the death of a loved one is an upsetting time for all involved, and treats each matter with respect and empathy.

Sam has been with SML for various stints since 2012. In terms of what Sam does at work, it would probably be quicker to list what she doesn’t do! She does everything from conveyancing, our firms accounting, to being our IT support. She enjoys our work environment and culture, noting that ‘we are more than just colleagues’.

Breanna graduated from the University of Auckland with a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) and a Bachelor of Commerce. She is an Associate Solicitor at Sutcliffe Matson Law and practices mainly in the area of Estate matters, Wills, Powers of Attorney and Trusts. She is dedicated to assisting clients during difficult times and making legal formalities for clients as stress free as possible. Many clients have commended Breanna on her ability to listen, empathise and to guide them through complex legal processes.
Outside of work, Breanna enjoys baking - although we are yet to convince her to share her creations with the workplace, exercising and travelling. An interesting fact about Breanna is that before moving to the Beachlands/Maraetai area, she lived in Indonesia with her family.

Shobhna has joined our practice as a consultant to the firm after being in her own firm since 1992. Shobhna predominantly works in all areas associated with Property, Commercial and Family Law including Trusts, Wills and Estate Administration. She has a proud history being well regarded within the community. Shobhna recognises the importance of the provision of legal services with sincerity and getting down to the grassroots with people and recognsing that client satisfaction is paramount. She has maintained a huge loyalty with her clients. Like many of our staff, Shobhna can communicate in several languages including English, Hindi, Punjabi and Gujarati.
In November 2019 Shobhna received a Special Commemoration Award in recognition of distinguished contributions to communities and people in need. She is a trustee and Honorary Solicitor, in a number of charitable organisations outside of work.

Tina moved from Samoa to New Zealand in 2018 and is our friendly receptionist. She enjoys meeting new people and making them feel welcome when they approach our firm. A usual day at work for Tina consists of communicating with clients, assisting our staff with various matters and ensuring that everything is running smoothly. In the ever-expanding languages our staff can speak, Tina is fluent in both Samoan and English.

Megan has recently joined the Sutcliffe Matson Law team and brings with her admin and auditing experience.
Megan will be working alongside Braden as his personal assistant, liaising with clients and ensuring that everything continues to run smoothly.
Outside of work, she enjoys snowboarding, fishing and socialising with friends and family.

Chloe joined our team following the completion of her Master of Laws (Hons) at the University of Auckland in 2018. In May 2016, she graduated with a Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Arts (majoring in Māori Studies and Media Studies) and was then admitted as a Barrister and Solicitor of the High Court two months later. Currently residing in South Auckland with her family, Chloe's focus is on Conveyancing, Relationship Property and Commercial law at our firm and serving the needs of the local community.

Georgia has been with our firm for three years and has recently graduated from the University of Auckland with a Bachelor of Laws/Bachelor of Arts degree. Her favourite papers at law school included relationship property, company and environmental law. At Sutcliffe Matson Law, Georgia will primarily assist you with your wills, enduring powers of attorneys, family trusts and relationship property matters. She enjoys helping clients and explaining legal formalities in a way which the client can understand.

Terry qualified as a Solicitor in 1976 and then moved in the commercial and corporate sector in New Zealand and England. He has also owned serveral small businesses and brings his personal business skills to advising and working with commercial clients. He also has a strong bias and empathy towards the area of elder care law.
